As many members of the public will be aware, there remain an unusually high number of sharks in the inshore waters around Ascension. Sharks are apex predators, so when in or on the water individuals should exercise caution, both in their own interest and in the interest of other water users.
AIG recognise that as apex predators the current presence of unusually high shark numbers can be intimidating.
As such, the AIG Marine and Fisheries Team will be hosting a forum for members of the public to share their views on Galapagos sharks at 19:00 on Wednesday 02 June 2021 at Two Boats Club.
This will provide an opportunity for members of the public to hear about what action AIG is taking to better understand the issue, put forward their own ideas as to what steps AIG might wish to consider, and suggest any actions they think could be implemented whilst shark number remain unusually high.
It will also provide an opportunity for members of the public to learn more about sharks, shark behaviour and what steps they can take when in or on the water to stay safe.
