Question
CEF 01 2025 AIG Role
Question:
There are currently four vacancies available within the AIG however only one role is on a household status- that of the Administrators Office Manager/Clerk to Council. Can I enquire why this is the case, particularly as it was previously an accompanied status?
This role holds a significant responsibility to our council however on a household status it greatly limits the number of people who would be eligible to apply. I have been approached by several people off-island who would be interested in applying for this position but cannot under its current conditions.
AIG Response:
AIG policy allows the hiring manager to assess with Human Resources (HR) whether the position is advertised locally and/or internationally. In the case of the Office Manager position, I agreed with HR that, in the first instance, the position would only be advertised locally.
As the Councillor will appreciate, there are significant resource and timing advantages if there is a suitable local candidate. However, this does not prevent the AIG re-advertising the position for international applications if local recruitment is unsuccessful.
