Conservation
During the summer holidays the Conservation and Fisheries Directorate deliver weekly ‘Explorer’s’ events for school children, full of educational activities and fun games! This year is no different with the children taking part in a number of different events to learn more about Ascensions incredible wildlife, habitats and heritage!
The first week saw the Explorers join our Invertebrate Project Officer, Adam, and the Park Warden Team. The Explorers headed out on a Bug Safari around Green Mountain before getting stuck into crafting their own endemic invertebrates at the Red Lion. Lots of mini beasts were discovered and lots of fun was had!
Week two of Explorers was organised by the Seabird team and took place in the Conservation Beach Hut at Long Beach. Six different activities were planned to highlight birds of the world.
In week three the explorers will dive deep into the Ascension MPA, joining our marine team for some fishy fun!
