Working with partners the AIG Conservation and Fisheries Directorate (AIGCFD) carry out practical conservation and a number of research projects. Those interested in conducting research on Ascension must have an approved Environmental Research Permit. This can be completed and emailed to AIGCFD for consideration.

The Ascension Island Marine Protected Area Management Plan sets out how the area will be managed over the five years between 2021 and 2026. One year in, this review summarises the progress that has been made so far.

This strategy sets out a five-year plan for how monitoring, evaluation, and research will be carried out in the Ascension Island MPA. Monitoring and evaluation will be crucial to the success of the MPA as they enable the improvement of management, demonstrate progress to supporters, and allow the sharing of best practices with other MPAs.
