Consultation on Sick Leave Policy Begins

The Ascension Island Government announces the start of a public consultation for the draft "Policy on Legal Requirement for Sick Leave Provision," beginning today, Monday, 09 December 2024. The AIG is committed to ensuring the health and well-being of all employees working on the island. This policy sets forth essential guidelines to standardise sick leave provisions across all employing organisations, ensuring fair treatment and effective management of health-related absences. The policy draft has been developed after extensive initial consultations and reviews, including insights from the Employing Organisations and the Island Council.

Copies of the draft policy are available online through the AIG website, or through the Administrator’s Office in Georgetown.

Members of the public and interested parties are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the policy and provide written responses no later than 22 December 2024. Responses should be provided by email through aigenquiries@ascension.gov.ac
