Director of Resources Begins Role

On 15 January 2024, Peter Thomas arrived at Ascension to take up the position of Director of Resources with the AIG. The Director of Resources is a key position within the government, acting as the Collector of Customs and Commissioner of Income Tax in addition to their responsibilities as the Director of Resources.

Peter was appointed by warrant as of 16 January 2024, having been officially sworn in by Administrator Simon Minshull.

Peter has over 30 years of accountancy and strategic management experience and holds the qualifications of Chartered Management Accountant and a Chartered Public Finance Accountant.

Peter Joins us after working at Orkney Islands Council for the last 10 years, his most recent position was Chief Financial Officer for the Orkney Health and Social Care Partnership between the local council and health service.
