Barge deployed by AIG Marine team on 02 May 2024

AIG is pleased to announce the successful launch of a new barge last week.

The barge, specially designed by Manor Marine in the UK, increases the barge flotilla to four. Due to the ongoing maintenance and repair programme, only three barges will be operational at any given time, which is the minimum required for a safe and efficient cargo operation in respect of the Falkland Islands Resupply Ship (FIRS) and MV Karoline.    

We would like to say a huge thank you to the FCDO (Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office), which provided the necessary funding through the International Programme (IP).

In addition, we would like to thank everyone involved in the long process of getting the barge to Ascension and its final assembly here on the Island before its launch last week.
